Vietnamese Student Enrollment in the US Holds Steady

The US Department of Homeland Security via the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has finally released the latest stats on international students in the US. The last one was March 2019 (!). (Here’s 13.1.20 commentary about that.) Gee, I wonder if my many gentle reminders had anything to do with the timing of the latest update? (Conclusion: Yeah, right.)

Below is the introductory paragraph of my latest essay for University World News about US-bound Vietnamese students. There was a small decrease over March 2019. That’s not bad, considering all of the challenges and what’s happening with other sending countries.

After a long delay, the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme of the United States Department of Homeland Security has released the latest update on international student enrolment at all levels. As of last month, there were 29,976 young Vietnamese studying at educational institutions at all levels – post-secondary, secondary and primary – in all 50 states.
