I wish more people would follow it.

These t-shirts with slogans and sayings that most of the people wearing them don’t understand are a never-ending source of amusement. Seeing yet another one of these gave me the idea to produce t-shirts with a variety of advice and wisdom in different languages and sell them at cost or donate them to people who need them. Something else to make the visual landscape come alive and leave people who understand these languages smiling and/or reflective.

On a linguistic note, it’s not easy to explain what this word means to a non-native speaker of English. “Dick” is a nickname for Richard. It’s also slang for penis and an insulting term for someone who’s stupid, unpleasant, or a downright jerk or asshole. It can be used as a noun, an adjective (“that’s a dick move”), or a verb (“stop dicking around”).

My all-time favorite hat, seen many years ago in Hanoi, had The Coroner emblazoned on it. Had the man known what it meant, he would have been mortified, pun intended.
