Alignment as Humanity’s Greatest Strength

Below is a LinkedIn comment by Dominic Morgan, co-founder of the Authentic Leaders Initiative and CEO of ReThink Crisis. It was in response to a post by Bystanders No More about the documentary Planet Israel: A Cautionary Tale. What Dominic describes is the essence of global citizenship, a concept that most international educators pay lip service but who don’t walk the talk, sadly.

Alignment can also be described as allyship, which is often related to privilege(s), something I wrote about in this 2023 post The 21 Circles of Privilege. Here’s another related post from 2024 Are You Truly Human?

The Human Promise is a promise I made to myself a long time ago while a high school and university student. It was my mother, may she rest in peace, who instilled in me a deep reverence for all life forms. It also complemented my God-given temperament and mindset.

Oddly (or not?), putting this into practice has gotten me into trouble over the years by those who don’t promise to protect life, speak and live by the truth, act with justice and compassion, etc., a small price to pay. (For example, I’ve been called “antisemitic” because I am anti-genocide.)

How many of you have made this promise, regardless of the personal or professional cost?

MAA

The horror of horrors that has been created must be fully understood.

But to stop it requires one thing, alignment, not behind politics or religion but values, the one thing that will always connect our humanity.

What the powerful fear most is not violence.

It is alignment.

Empires, institutions, and systems built on division depend on people believing they are separate from one another.

Separate by nation.
Separate by religion.
Separate by ideology.
Separate by identity.

But the moment humanity recognises that our futures are intertwined, those divisions begin to lose their power.

Alignment changes everything.

When enough people choose cooperation over conflict, solidarity over separation, and humanity over tribalism, the foundations of division begin to crack.

The question is not who deserves freedom.

The question is whether we understand that all freedom is connected.

Alignment is humanity’s greatest strength.

The Human Promise – Video

Here’s another post by Dominic from a month ago:

Humanity is hanging by a thread, and we’re being told this decline is inevitable. But this is the greatest lie of our time. Every moment presents an opportunity to intervene, yet we convince ourselves we can’t make a difference, so we don’t try.

The truth is clear, real transformation only begins when we reach the breaking point where continuing as we are becomes impossible. When you feel you have no choice but to live differently because it’s the right thing to do, that’s when change takes root.

Start with yourself. Stop buying, using, and supporting genocide with your money. Every dollar spent on complicity is a vote against humanity. Make the Human Promise, a commitment to act according to your conscience, not convenience. When enough of us refuse to participate in systems of oppression, those systems will crumble.

We don’t need everyone to change. We just need enough. Enough people who can no longer stand by while atrocities happen. Enough people who will speak up when others remain silent. Enough people who will align their actions with their values.

Wake up. The time for passive observation is over. Your voice matters. Your choices matter. Your moral clarity matters. When enough of us stand with our values instead of our comfort, we will change the course of history. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary. Not because we want to, but because we can no longer do otherwise. You will know when you have reached that point, for you too will share the human promise.
