Dear Macklemore, my name is Ibrahim. I’m 12 years old and I’m a child from Gaza. I want to thank you for using your voice to speak about Palestine and the children of Gaza.

Your words mean so much to me because I know personally what it means for a child to live through war and fear. During this war, I was injured in my head by shrapnel. Since then, I have suffered greatly and I’m still living with the effects and difficulties of that injury today.

Despite everything, I try to stay strong and continue my education and hold on to my dreams. I don’t want war or hatred. I want to live, learn, dream, play and grow up safely with my family.

When someone with a powerful voice chooses to speak for children who are suffering, it gives us hope that the world has not forgotten us. Please keep using your voice for peace and for every child who deserves to live safely and with dignity. From a child in Gaza to Macklemore, thank you for not staying silent.
