Nova Scotia’s proactive, pro-immigration strategy is one to be emulated by the US, for example, which is in denial about the need for steady influx of skilled immigrants. As of 2020, there were just over eight million immigrants with permanent resident status in Canada, about 21.5% of the population. (Its median age is 41.1.) In contrast, the US had 44.8 million immigrants, 13.70% of the population.
