I had just finished one of our StudyUSA Higher Education Fairs when I learned from a colleague via email that Freddy Miranda, Director of International Affairs at Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) in Iowa, had died in an auto accident (PDF) two days before in Honduras, where he was recruiting for IHCC.

I first met Freddy when he worked for Iowa State University.  I was struck by his friendliness and dedication. Our paths crossed again a couple of years later when he joined a Capstone Vietnam fair series on behalf of IHCC.  I remember his joie de vivre, sense of humor and enthusiasm for Indian Hills.  (The photo above is of Freddy talking to students and a parent at a US community college fair in Danang.)
