According to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Oz is once again the most popular study destination for Vietnamese students, with more than 23,000 students enrolled at the country’s education institutions and an estimated 10,000 students undertaking Australian education and training courses in Vietnam.
The latter includes 6,000 studying at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). RMIT, with campuses in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and Hanoi, is Vietnam’s first and only 100% foreign-invested university.
The US is now the world’s second leading host of students from Vietnam with 17,793 at all levels based on the March 2011 SEVIS By the Numbers quarterly snapshot. (265 KB PDF download.) Australia’s visa issuance rate for Vietnamese students was 78.6% in 2009-10.
