“Unrealistic targets hurting Vietnam’s education quality”

Scientists and education experts have expressed concern over a project launched by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2000 titled “Training state officials overseas by state budget” (Project 322), as it is proving unfeasible compromising education standards. (SGGP English Edition, 28.1.10)
This article raises concerns about the wisdom of churning out so many Ph.D.s given the inadequate preparation of many grantees and the reality that  most will end up in administration not teaching and conducting research.   One important issue not mentioned is the fact that in many fields of study and education/training a Master’s degree will suffice.   If you’re interested, be sure to check out the following recent related articles:
