I’m reposting this from Mahmoud Alsalehi’s LinkedIn account. Dr. Alsalehi is a pediatric cardiologist and assistant professor of pediatrics in Canada. Israel doing what it does best – murder and mayhem.
The Israeli Occupation Forces killed the most experienced Consultant of General Surgery in Gaza Strip, Dr Ahmed Qandil, in a drone attack that targeted him on his way home from Al-Ahli Hospital
We called him the Grandfather of Surgeons in Gaza. A healer, a mentor, and a pillar of Gaza’s medical community—he trained hundreds of surgeons and treated thousands, saving lives even as bombs fell around him.
Born in Gaza City, he completed his early education there before earning his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1970. He began his career at Al-Shifa Hospital, later earning a Master’s in Surgery from Ain Shams and returning to Gaza to improve surgical practices and train new generations.
He went on to receive a PhD from the Warsaw Medical Academy in 1997 and another doctorate in gastrointestinal surgery from France in 1998. He completed numerous international training programs and represented Palestine at global medical conferences.
Within the Palestinian Ministry of Health, he rose to become Head of Surgery and Director of the Surgical Departments at Al-Shifa Medical Complex. Since 2008, he had been a full member of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery.
His loss is a devastating blow—not just to Gaza, but to the world.
Shame on the global healthcare institutions that claim to uphold the sanctity of life, yet remain silent as surgeons and healthcare workers are killed and hospitals are destroyed.
Your silence is complicity.
The total number of healthcare workers killed in Gaza is 1588!

How could it be done to you, and your ancestors, and you turn around, and you do it to someone else?
