This is from a 13 November 2024 Tweet by Craig Mokhiber, an American former United Nations (UN) human rights official and a specialist in international human rights law, policy, and methodology. On October 28, 2023, Mokhiber stepped down as the director of the New York office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), four days before he was due to retire. In his final letter to High Commissioner Volker Türk, he harshly criticized the organization’s response to the war in Gaza, calling Israel’s military intervention a “textbook genocide” and accusing the UN of failing to act. Israeli propaganda is entirely constructed on easily debunked lies. But to fully understand the Zionist narrative from Palestine to Amsterdam, in which Israeli perpetrators claim to be victims, we must also understand that…
1) to someone who has only ever known impunity, accountability feels like persecution;
2) the stripping away of privilege feels like discrimination;
3) criticism of their racism feels like a racist attack on them;
4) holding them to the same standards as everyone else is an intolerable denial of their superiority; and
5) facts, truth, law, human rights norms, and anything else that contradicts their political ideology feels like a personal threat. This is how a racist political ideology morphs into a kind of mental illness-and a very dangerous one.
Thanks to Reem Ghunaim for sharing and to Craig Mokhiber for his explanation. In summary:
The Israeli propaganda framework:
1. Accountability as Persecution
2. Loss of Privilege as Oppression
3. Criticism as Attack
4. Exceptionalism as Norm
5. Truth as Threat
In reflection, the Palestinian truth framework:
1. Accountability as Justice
2. Loss of Privilege as Equality
3. Criticism as Advocacy
4. Universal Standards as Norm
5. Truth as Liberation
This framework could easily be applied to other settler colonial states like the US. For example, substitute “whites” or “nationalists” for Zionists.

In Gaza, Israel Lost What Remained of Its Humanity.
—Gideon Levy, Haaretz, 24 July 2024
When Gideon Levy wrote (see epigraph, above) that Israel had lost its humanity, he was referring to another ghoulish event. For no discernable reason, on July 3 the IDF (in fact, several dozen soldiers) unleashed an attack dog on a young man, Mohammed Bhar, who had Down’s syndrome (he was also autistic), in his home. The dog ripped Mohammed apart, while the soldiers drove his mother out of their house, her screams notwithstanding. He subsequently bled to death. The family was allowed to return home a week later, at which time they found his rotting body. “From now on,” wrote Levy, “only Jewish lives count. From now on, we can do anything to Palestinians. Even sic dogs on people with special needs.” The soldiers “let him die in agony, which touched the heart of almost no one in Israel in 2024.”(14)

Excited to Announce My Latest Skillset: Now Identify as ‘White European Privilege™’
Turns out, I’ve been unknowingly rocking this highly sought-after global advantage my whole life. Here’s a quick breakdown of the perks.
Default Human Setting; Imagine walking into a room and being assumed competent, non-threatening, and “neutral.” The perfect blue-eyed, blond haired future natural corporate leader. Revolutionary, right?
Travel Influencer Energy;
My passport gets me into more countries than your favorite YouTuber can mispronounce. No visas, no questions, just vibes baby.
Colonial Legacy Starter Pack;
Thanks to centuries of my ancestors’ world tours (a.k.a. colonialism), our brand is recognized globally. Apparently, looting and empire-building left behind some great PR. Mess with us and we will b0mb and F the S out ya.
Representation Overload:
Every movie, textbook, and history class reminds me that people who look like me (remember I’m white, not brown or any other shade) have always been the main character. Must be exhausting for everyone else.
The Perk of the Past;
Systemic racism? Economic exploitation? Lucky for me, the work was already done generations ago. I’m just here cashing the dividends of historical injustice.
So, if you’re hiring for someone with a lifetime of unearned confidence and global preferential treatment, I’m your candidate. And no, I won’t be addressing my privilege unless it’s during a TED Talk.

A word about Israel and its primary benefactor: Both believe they are above the law because of their exceptionalism, i.e., their belief that they are the chosen peoples in very different historical contexts. They’re more shameless and brazen than ever. Will the rest of the world sit back and watch or resist with every means at its disposal? So far, it’s been the former.

77 years ago exactly today, the UN Partition Plan was adopted by the UN General Assembly as Resolution 181. With this, the United Nations made legally possible for de facto warlord David Ben-Gurion to transform the new Yishuv (then, a group of illegal European colonies within mandatory Palestine) into an official State of Israel a few months later, in May 1948.
But as soon as the UN green light had been given by various influential governments in the UN system in 1947, the Irgun, Lehi and Hagannah had coordinated attacks and massacres of Palestinian villages and towns to depopulate large swathes of Palestine, a dynamic of ethnic cleansing which continued once Israel was created in 1948. This led to a regional war (1948-1949), and to at least 750.000 Palestinians becoming refugees.
Yet Israel has kept on expanding its massacres and landgrabs over decades, very clearly when it attacked Egypt in 1956, for instance. Or when it bombed the Unity dam between Jordan and Syria, in 1966.
And during these decades of occupation, creeping expansions of settlements and destruction of Palestinian homes, neighborhoods and Bedouin villages have meant that Israel has been in clear violation of the UN charter, the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law, and for a year, the 1948 Genocide Convention.
Let’s be clear: We must stop now the genocidal regime of Netanyahu and the ethnic cleansing occurring in Gaza.
