A Small Business Role Model: Kudos to Pizza 4P’s!

I’ve eaten a lot of pizza and related dishes in my time and I can say without exaggeration that Pizza 4Ps is the most delicious I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I’m impressed by the consistent quality across locations and over time. It’s one reason why Pizza 4P’s now has 31 restaurants in Vietnam, has expanded to Cambodia, and is poised to enter the food and beverage market in India and Japan. (The founders are Japanese.) Another is two stages of investment from private equity firms, which helped it to scale up quickly.

Pizza 4P’s was established in 2011 by Yosuke Masuko and Sane Takasugi. After Mekong Capital (MC) investment in 2018, the number of restaurants increased from eight to 27 in Vietnam and Cambodia. While MC exited last year, Tokyo-based Cool Japan Fund invested a cool $10 million USD in 4P’s Holdings Pte.Ltd., which operates the restaurants and produces cheese and other dairy products. In addition, the company produces its own craft beer.

Pizza 4P’s lost $838,668 in 2020 and over $1.6 million in 2021, the result of the pandemic, but has come roaring back in the new normal era. Pre-COVID-19, the company reported profits of over in 2018 and 2019. Before the pandemic, it reported profits of just over $2 million in 2018 and 2019.

What’s astonishing is Pizza 4P’s ability to maintain quality while rapidly expanding. That is the key to its success.

Here’s a statement from its website:

Pizza 4P’s arose from a desire to bring people peace and happiness, two of the most fundamental aspects of modern life. The term “Pizza 4P’s” translates to “Pizza for Peace,” with the ultimate goal of making the globe smile for peace. We all deserve genuine smiles, pleasure, and a peaceful life.

Apart from delivering worthy meals made from sustainable resources, we want to encourage mindfulness and inner calm in our guests. We strive to make a significant contribution to peace and happiness, one smile at a time.

Finally, another plus is the company’s wholehearted embrace of environmentally friendly packaging.

Best wishes for continued success and its mission of “sharing happiness, one pizza at a time”!
