Another Gaza Soup Kitchen Staff Member Shot by an Israeli Quadcopter

Here’s a social media from Hani Almadhoun, vice president of philanthropy at UNRWA USA and co-founder of Gaza Soup Kitchen (GSK). As Hani points out, this is the second member of the Gaza Soup Kitchen team to be shot inside an UN school while doing their job. Mahmoud, Hani’s brother, and the other co-founder of GSK, was assassinated at around 9 a.m. on 30 November 2024 by an Israeli quadcopter aka “sniper drone.”

Please keep Mohammed Rayyan in your prayers and, budget permitting, donate to both organizations and support their lifesaving work against daunting odds.

Peace & Justice, MAA

Today, one of our team members, Mohammed Rayyan, was shot by an Israeli quadcopter near Abu Hussein School, an UNRWA school.

Earlier in the day, he had been at the kitchen helping prepare meals—doing what he always does: showing up for others.

He is now recovering.

There was no warning. No reason. Just another moment that reminds us how dangerous even the most basic humanitarian work has become.

Mohammed is not a number. He is a name, a face, a member of our team.

This is the second member of our Gaza Soup Kitchen team to be shot inside an UN school while doing their job.

We are grateful he is alive. And we will continue to stand with him—and tell these stories.
