I was inspired to create these songs based on the Buddha’s Five Remembrances. If you know nothing about Buddhism, this is a great place to start. Whether you follow a religion or are a secular humanist, read them from time to time and take them to heart. As Thích Nhất Hạnh said, When you deny the reality of life, you appreciate it less. Meditate on the Buddha’s Five Remembrances and rediscover the magic of life just as it is.

Verse 1

I remember I was born so young, in dawn’s first golden light. But time will weave its silver threads … and bring another night. Skin will fade, strength will quiet — youth must go its way. So I walk this life with open heart, aware of every day.

Chorus

All will change — like river flows, like seasons shift and bend. Every breath, each moment lives, until the very end. Hold close what matters, but hold loosely too, for life is fragile, beautiful — let love and kindness flow through.

I remember illness comes with storms, unbidden in the days. Health may waver, flesh may tire, but still the spirit stays. When pain whispers soft or loud, I greet it without fear. I bow to truth: no shield from change — but open arms can hear.
