A friend in Gaza shared these photos with me. The text in the first image is a quote from the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.

As another friend put it, “It’s a famous expression of resilience and attachment to the land, especially in Palestinian culture, where za‘tar (thyme) and zaytoun (olive) are symbols of heritage, resistance, and rootedness.”
